A custom embroidered patch that represents the iconic Pensacola Beach Ball landmark. The Pensacola Beach cross was erected in 1959 as part of the city’s celebrations commemorating the 400th anniversary of Spanish explorer Tristán de Luna’s settlement of Pensacola.The Beach Ball was originally owned by Emerald Coast Utilities Authority (the local water company) and was used at one time to store water for Pensacola Beach. Since then, the Beach Ball was sold to the Santa Rosa Island Authority who currently own and are in charge of maintaining the Beach Ball.
